Credit Counseling Service of Southern New England
(CCCS/SNE) is a non-profit public service agency formed
in 1999 from the merger of the former CCCS affiliated
agencies of Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
It is the leading provider of financial counseling,
financial education, debt management programs and
housing counseling in the tri-state area.
CCCS of SNE joined the MMI family in 2005. Money Management
International (MMI) is the largest full service, non-profit
credit counseling agency affiliated with the National
Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC).
Personalized financial counseling, which is conducted in person, over the telephone and Internet on a strictly confidential basis, helps clients resolve financial difficulties and achieve long-term financial well-being. Community education, which is primarily conducted through group presentations and trade shows, helps consumers prevent financial difficulties and develop lifelong financial management skills.
CCCS/SNE, which traces its roots to 1972, is a member of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC). The NFCC has approximately 135 member agencies throughout the U.S. Including branch and satellite locations; there are offices in more than 1,000 communities. Each of the member agencies adheres to the NFCC's ethical standards and practices, including accreditation by The Council on Accreditation for Children and Family Services.
The agency's main offices are in Boston, MA; East Hartford, CT; and Warwick, RI. In addition, there are branch/satellite offices in other convenient locations throughout Southern New England.
CCCS/SNE is a privately funded agency. Fair-Share contributions from creditors are the primary source of income. Other sources of funding include client fees for Debt Management Plans, grants and private contributions from corporations. |
